Saudi Arabia’s Aquarabia Water Park will be the largest in the Middle East

Everything you need to know about the Kingdom’s first water park.

Saudi Arabia’s megaprojects are always spectacular. The latest development, however, is all about fun. Lots of fun.

Qiddiya’s Aquarabia Water Park will be the first water park in Saudi Arabia and the largest in the Middle East. Located on the outskirts of Riyadh, it will span a massive 250,000 square metres. The park will be home to 22 rides and attractions, and five will be, in true Saudi style, record-breakers. This will be the only water park in the world to offer a mix of dry and wet rides. Plus, animal lovers will be excited by the animal experiences across Arabian Peak, Camel Rock and Herding Grounds.

Aquarabia Water Park will feature four record-breaking attractions, including Junoon Drop, the world’s tallest water coaster; Speedy Jamezales, the tallest drop body slide; Slithereel the longest water slide, and Jamal Joom, the longest mat racer. Aquarabia will also feature the first underwater adventure ride featuring fully submersible cars.

If you love a good competition, then bring your game face. The site will hold water sports competitions – surfing, anyone? Look out for a sports arena which will hold international competitions, academies for sports, and a racetrack for motorsport enthusiasts. The dedicated watersports zone will offer rafting, kayaking, canyoneering, free solo climbing and cliff jumping, as well as the Kingdom’s first surf pool.

Overall, the park will offer experiences across sports and wellness, nature and environment, parks and attractions, motion and mobility, and arts and culture.

Abdullah bin Nasser Aldawood, board member and managing director of QIC, explained: “This announcement marks a significant milestone for Qiddiya City and for the entertainment, tourism and sports sectors. As we keep expanding our entertainment offering, Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City will fulfil the diverse entertainment needs of our community, contribute to the diversification of our economy and create job opportunities in the tourism sector.”

The site includes six themed lands, record-breaking rides and, of course, the world’s longest, tallest and fastest rollercoaster. The records-breaking rides also include Sirocco Tower, the world’s tallest free-standing shot tower ride; Gyropsin, the world’s tallest pendulum ride; Spitfire, the world’s tallest inverted top hat coaster; and Iron Rattler, the world’s tallest tilt coaster.
